Cities for people.
We challenge the speculative, profit-driven model that excludes communities — and build the policies, partnerships and pilot projects that put dignity, land and the civic commons back into shared hands.
Common ground, shared future.
Everyone deserves to live in a decent, clean, safe and healthy environment — no matter their circumstances. JIHUD is founded on the principle that urban and rural spaces, housing, land, infrastructure and amenities are shared legacies.
Rapid urbanisation in Nigeria has produced opportunity alongside deepening spatial inequality. We work with low-income earners, women, youth and marginalised communities to advance housing justice and reclaim the civic commons — the collective inheritance of spaces and resources that belong to everyone.

Land and housing are being treated as financial assets — not as the commons.
This system drives speculative development, unaffordable housing, social exclusion and environmental degradation. It disempowers residents, dismantles social fabric and erodes the civic commons.
We organise to reverse that loss of democratic control — and to build resilient, inclusive and sustainable communities for the long term.
